Taking Chances

Anna Sarayna - Taking Chances

While I’ve been writing a lot more this year, very little of it has been on this blog as I’ve been busy with other projects. Afiwi Marketing is coming along nicely, and there’s now a podcast to go along with the blog. Like I said, I’ve been busy.

I’ve been taking more chances with my creativity and putting myself out there more. Which feels terrifying, exhilarating, exciting, and nerve-wracking all at once. A life of normal would be so much easier. Problem is, I wouldn’t know how to do that even if I wanted to.

So instead I’m forever stretching and exposing myself. The hope? That ultimately, some of it connects with someone somewhere. That eventually, all this laboring will lead to further fulfillment and profit (because all the feels are nice, but we know they can’t pay the bills).

The latest ‘exposure’ comes in the form of a collection of poetry that helped me with some healing after a heartbreak. It’s raw and primal and I’m not sure anyone will like it. But I enjoyed writing it so for now that will have to be enough.

It’s two collections in one – Healing is Difficult (the therapy session for my heartbreak) and The Human Condition (which is more or less social commentary) and I will share it with the world on December 10 (tentatively).

Here’s to taking more chances!

UPDATE: The book is now officially available on Amazon! You can click here to order.

The fight against perfection in creative endeavors

As an artist I often struggle to embrace the messy side of creativity. I love creating—whether that's an acrylic painting on canvas, ink on watercolor paper, or some other medium. The challenge for me comes from the need to have things turn out exactly as I envision....

Healing is Difficult

Healing is Difficult

I've been sitting on half of the manuscript for Healing is Difficult + The Human Condition for several years. The other half was written in a short period - about a month, give or take a few days - following the ending of an encounter (it was complicated, and calling...
